When can Chain Disappearance be used against Substitoad or the monster it Summons?
Substitoad is Summoned and tributes itself to Special Summon a Frog.
Chain Disappearance can be used in the Summon response window if the monster remains on the field. If Substitoad tributes itself for cost, it is no longer a legal target; you can instead chain to the summoned monster if it meets the condition.
If Lonefire uses priority and tributes itself, can Chain Disappearance be activated?
Lonefire is Summoned and tributes itself as cost.
No. The targeted monster is no longer on the field, so Chain Disappearance cannot be activated.
